About Hir Barn

Large bright spaces and exposed beams are intertwined with sleek modern architecture. Downstairs is a huge open plan area, with double height spaces, a bespoke steel and glass staircase, fully fitted kitchen with AGA, 10 seater table, TV area, separate sitting room and a "secret" mezzanine with games console.

There is a double garage with additional parking in the private courtyard.

Stays of a week or more include a hot tub.

Hir Barn is gentle stroll from the heart of the picturesque village of Flushing and the water's edge, ideal for swimming, paddle boarding or incredible, catch of the day fish and chips from the Waterside restaurant. There are also two proper Cornish pubs, the Seven Stars and the Royal Standard, both with sea views and friendly service.

A 10 minute walk in the opposite direction will lead you to Mylor Harbour (pictured), a first class marina and boatyard. For walkers, Mylor Harbour is a perfect place from which to explore Restronguet Creek, the Fal Estuary or Mylor Creek.

The sub-tropical gardens of Trelissick (pictured), Trebah and Glendurgan are amazing all year round, each with spectacular views, whilst the Eden Project is more tropical than sub. The Lost Gardens of Heligan is a 45 minute drive, but with a name like that, how could you resist?
Our favourite local pub is the thatched 13th century Pandora Inn, reachable by land and sea. It was (and maybe still is), frequented by smugglers and pirates. Inside is a 6ft replica of the ship the pub is now named after, an 18th century galleon sent to Tahiti to chase down the mutinous crew of the Bounty (try not to mention it hit the Great Barrier Reef and sank). Our favourite restaurant is the Star and Garter in Falmouth, which has views across the bay to Flushing. Beg, steal or do whatever your dignity allows to get a window seat.

There are world class golf courses nearby at Trevose, St Enodoc, Perranporth and Falmouth (pictured). Otherwise why not hire a boat at Mylor or take a lesson at Falmouth Surf and Watersport school?

If that's still not enough, drive or sail to beautiful St Mawes (the UK's best coastal destination according to Which? magazine). Have a bite to eat at the Idle Rocks or Hotel Tresanton (if you can get a reservation) or just have a wander through this picturesque 15th Century fishing village.
